Obituary for Peggy Sue Mason (Formby)
Sue Mason, 96, of Alma, Arkansas passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 in her home. She was a retired teacher and a homemaker. She was born December 5, 1923 in Mulberry, AR to the late Boyd and Pierce (Evans) Formby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Mason; daughter, Lynn Mason; son, Michael Mason; sisters, Jean Benham, Beth Brownlee and brothers, Jim Formby, and Jack Formby.
Sue and Curtis joined the Alma Church of Christ shortly after moving to Alma in the early 1960’s. Her Church family has been a cornerstone of both faith and daily life. She was active in EHC programs within Crawford county and until her later years had entries at the Crawford County fair each year.
After retirement from the Alma School system Sue enjoyed participating in Order of Eastern Star serving in several offices and participating in chapter meetings in western Arkansas.
She had a special gift for connecting with people, whether related by family ties or love. Sue especially enjoyed the communication and interaction with her nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Alma Church of Christ with interment in Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. The service will be livestreamed on the Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Facebook page.
Survivors include one son, Mark Mason wife Deborah Mason of Coppell, TX and one granddaughter, Anna Mason of Shreveport, LA.
Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.
