Obituary for Janice "Jan" Rae Rickard (Poll)

Janice “Jan” Rae Rickard, 67, of Alma, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in a local hospital. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and dedicated child of God. Jan was a member of Alma First Baptist Church, where she actively shared in her husband’s ministry as a Deacon, sang in the choir and volunteered wherever her church needed her the most. She worked for Shared Services Center where she was a claims processor, volunteered at the Alma Boys and Girls Club and was an adventurous and fun-loving person. She was a truly wonderful person and great friend to many. She was born July 27, 1953 in St. Louis, MO to the late Arthur Bernard and Alma Ree (Morris) Poll. Also, preceded in death by her father-in-law, Virgil Rickard and mother-in-law, Helen Rickard, who she loved so dearly.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, February 26, 2021 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with a private family ceremony to follow. Services are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Rickard; daughter, Julia Grovenburg and husband Todd of Ft. Smith; sons, JR Rickard of Savannah, GA and John Rickard of Lake Stephens, WA; brother, Jim Poll; Sisters-in-law, Brenda Joyce Corgan and Sherry Lynn Rickard; grandchildren, Ruby Rickard, Cole Rickard, Jeffery Rickard, Hudson Grovenburg, and Jillian Grovenburg.

Due to Covid there will be no public viewing.

Pallbearers will be Keith Greene, Jerry Valentine, Scott Peters, Renny Chesshir, Ronnie Newton and Rick Douglas.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Alma First Baptist Church.
